Disadvantages of smart shopping cart won’t dissatisfy the general public

When a new technical product emerged, it usually brought the general public both advantages and disadvantages, and so does the smart shopping cart. It’s no doubt that the disadvantages of smart shopping carts won’t dissatisfy the general public, as we always adopt the advantages and ignore the disadvantages, what’s more, smart shopping cart advantages are far more than smart shopping cart disadvantages.

So in this article, I will describe the 4 advantages and 1 disadvantage of a smart shopping cart.

Advantages :

(1) Supporting customers to purchase items by themselves.

One of the most obvious advantages of a smart shopping cart is that it has a bar code scanner and could support customers scanning items’ bar codes by themselves.

Customers scan items’ bar codes while they are shopping, it is a very natural process and doesn’t cost time. After scanning, items’ prices and other detailed information will be displayed on the touch-able screen automatically. This means the purchasing process has been implemented.

Customers don’t need to ask anyone for help when they are shopping, they can enjoy an improved shopping experience. Don’t worry that the shopping journey will be boring, the smart shopping cart system can interact with customers and guide customers step by step.

(2) Helping customers check out by themselves and Eliminating the long queues at the cash counter.

A smart shopping cart supports customers' view of their real-time shopping bill in their shopping process, at the final step, customers direct finish their payment on the smart shopping cart.

This means customers can settle their shopping bills anywhere in the supermarket. Customers won’t gather at the cashiers’ desks anymore.

Besides, customers don’t have to wait in line anymore, this helps customers save much time.

Keeping a safe distance has been regarded as an effective measure to protect everyone since Covid-19 broke out. Disadvantages :

(1) Pushing to the parking lot or outdoor is not allowed.

Customers can use smart shopping carts freely in a supermarket, but pushing a smart shopping cart to the parking lot or outdoor is not allowed.

The reason is that a smart shopping cart has a tablet that can’t be under the blazing sun or the rain.
